# 2.3 - Supervisors

> Supervisor roles, response rules, and responsibilities during DPS operations.

Supervisors are responsible for maintaining professionalism, discipline, and operational effectiveness during patrol and critical incidents.

## Supervisory Roles Include

* Corporal and above (formal supervision levels vary by department policy)
* Any member **designated as Acting Supervisor** by Command

## Supervisors May Be Requested When

* An officer requires guidance on a complex or unfamiliar situation
* A civilian requests a supervisor regarding a dispute or concern
* A scene requires command presence due to severity or complexity

## Supervisor Response Rules

* If a supervisor is already present, that supervisor fulfills the request.
* Additional supervisors should not respond unless requested by the on-scene supervisor or dispatch/command, to maintain patrol coverage.

## Supervisor Responsibilities

* Maintain unit distribution and coverage
* Assist with prioritization and response coordination
* Enforce radio discipline and communication standards
* Assume or assign scene command as needed
* Provide mentorship and corrective guidance
* Ensure actions align with DPS Core Values and SOPs
