# 2.6 - Uniforms

> Uniform requirements and permitted personalization for DPS officers.

All officers shall wear the approved department-issued uniform while on duty.

## Strictly Prohibited

* Altering or customizing numbered/issued uniform components (vests, pants, shirts, badges, hats, or issued accessories)

Violations may result in disciplinary action under the Uniform SOP.

## Permitted Personalization

* Non-issued, non-numbered items (undershirts, watches, sunglasses) are allowed if they:
  * Maintain a professional appearance
  * Do not interfere with safety or operational effectiveness

## Approved Exceptions (Subdivision Uniforms)

Subdivision-specific uniforms/gear may only be worn by authorized members while performing subdivision duties, including:

* SWAT
* CID
* Motorbike Unit (MBU)

Noncompliance will be addressed through the Chain of Command.
