# 3.3 - Training Philosophy

> Training philosophy and readiness standards within the DPS Field Training Program.

The Field Training Program emphasizes:

* Professional decision-making
* Officer safety and public safety
* Proper use of discretion
* Communication and report writing
* Ethical conduct and accountability
* Readiness for independent duty

Completion of the Field Training Program signifies that a trainee has demonstrated the competence, maturity, and judgment required to serve the public without direct supervision.
