# 5.3 - Professional Conduct

> On-duty, off-duty, and workplace conduct standards.

### On-Duty Conduct

Officers shall:

* Treat all persons with courtesy and respect
* Remain calm under stress or provocation
* Avoid vulgar, discriminatory, or sarcastic language
* Enforce laws impartially
* Maintain professionalism on radio and in public

### Off-Duty Conduct

Off-duty officers must:

* Avoid conduct that discredits DPS
* Use discretion on social media
* Not identify as law enforcement unless necessary for safety
* Maintain confidentiality at all times

### Workplace Conduct

Personnel must:

* Foster a harassment-free workplace
* Address disputes through proper channels
* Support teamwork, mentorship, and accountability
