# 5.4 - Department Accountability Program (DAPs)

> DPS disciplinary action point system and infraction levels.

The DPS Accountability Program (DAP) assigns violations from **Level 1–4**, escalating in severity.

### 1 DAP – Minor Infractions

* Unsecured patrol vehicle
* Unjustified speeding
* Radio interference or unprofessional chatter
* Repeated verbal warnings escalate

### 2 DAPs – Moderate Infractions

* Excessive gear without approval
* Improper ramming
* Misuse of spikes, drones, or tactical tools

### 3 DAPs – Major Infractions

* Excessive force
* Failure to call shots fired
* Ignoring lawful orders
* Dangerous spike deployment

### 4 DAPs – Critical Infractions

* Weapon loss or mishandling
* Unauthorized Class 2 escalation
* Equipment theft or concealment

### Termination-Level Actions

* Abandoning duty
* Felony conduct
* Corruption or evasion of arrest

Unclear incidents are reviewed by Supervisors and Command.
