# 5.5 - Detainment & Arrest Procedures

> Detainment, arrest, processing, and documentation procedures.

### Detainment

* Temporary investigative hold
* Individual must be informed they are detained
* Weapons, devices, and contraband secured
* Must release promptly if PC is not developed

### Arrest

* Requires Probable Cause
* Miranda must be read
* Charges clearly stated
* Full search prior to transport
* Evidence logged correctly
* Legal property returned before processing

### Processing & Documentation

* Confirm identity
* Enter charges in MDT
* Assign time served
* Complete reports promptly
* Supervisors may audit at random
