# 6.1 - Illegal Items & Evidence Lockers

> Evidence locker use, storage, and chain-of-custody requirements.

All evidence and seized property must be stored in the **MRPD Evidence Room (Lower Level, Right Side)**. Personnel must be **clocked in** to access the lockers.

### Evidence Locker Use

* Evidence must be stored under the **corresponding Incident/Report Number**.
* Evidence tied to an arrest must **match the incident/report number** associated with that arrest.
* Evidence must be logged promptly to maintain chain-of-custody integrity.

### Special Locker Assignments

* **Locker 999:** Miscellaneous turn-ins and destructive/hazardous items
* **Locker 300:** Community food/items (non-evidence)

> **Rule:** If an item is not tied to a documented incident/report, it **does not belong** in an evidence locker unless it is a turn-in stored under the designated special lockers.
