# 6.2.2 – Medical Authority & Scope

> Scope of medical care law enforcement officers may provide.

Unless SAMS-certified, officers may only provide basic life-saving measures such as:

* Applying pressure to bleeding wounds
* Tourniquet application *(if trained)*
* Moving a patient only under the Movement Clause

SAMS-certified officers must follow SAMS procedures. Failure to comply may result in certification revocation.
