# 7.12 - Performance Monitoring & Recordkeeping

> Required K-9 records, logs, performance analytics, and review metrics.

Every K-9 handler must maintain meticulous, transparent documentation to ensure accountability and verify the ongoing health, readiness, and effectiveness of each **K-9** unit.

### Required Records

* **Daily Logs:** feeding times, hydration, rest, exercise, training type, deployment activity, and any anomalies (injuries, behavioral changes).
* **Monthly Reports:** summary of all deployments, finds, false alerts, and training hours.
* **Quarterly Reviews:** performance evaluation including skill retention, loyalty, stamina, and obedience under distraction.
* **Veterinary Records:** vaccination, medical exams, treatment, injury reports, and vet notes.
* **Equipment Logs:** cage inspections, leash/harness replacements, vehicle modifications, and maintenance records.
* **Deployment Logs:** each sniff or apprehension event recorded with date, location, case number, result, and outcome.
* **Incident Reports:** any dog injury, escape, misconduct, or bite must be reported immediately to the Senior K-9 Officer and reviewed by the Head of K-9 Personnel.

### Performance Analytics

The Head of K-9 Personnel compiles quarterly statistics on:

* Detection accuracy (hit vs. false alert rate)
* Training compliance hours
* Handler attendance and shift logs
* **K-9** health markers
* Total operational hours and call-outs per region

Performance results determine eligibility for continued certification, advanced training, and state reimbursement incentives.
