# [1.2] - Rank Duties

> Detailed duties for FTO, Head FTO, Academy Instructor, and FTD Director roles.

## 1.2A - FTO Duties

* Cadet Onboarding
* Phases 1-3 of Cadet Training
* Solo Clear Observation
* Sign off on all reports written by the cadet **(incident or standard report)**

## 1.2B - Head FTO Duties

* The head FTO is in charge of all the FTO’s within their department. The following is standard for the Head FTO rank:
  * Oversight of all Departmental FTO’s
  * Reports directly to the Director of FTD
  * Ensures all Cadets are trained consistently and in compliance with this document

## 1.2C - Academy Instructor

* Instructors Directly responsible for providing education to all officers
* Instructors are responsible for providing periodic optional training to officers, this is to ensure they are getting continued education throughout their career

## 1.2D - Director of FTD

* The Director of the Field Training Division is solely responsible for the division as a whole
* The director has the authority to override any FTD Member’s ruling in the education of cadets, whether that be a change in their tracking sheet or solo clearing the cadet
* The Director of FTD answers directly to Commander Ryan Matthews of the SAST or Commissioner Rex Chambers of the DoPS
