# [5.7] - Civilian Ride-Along Policy

> Requirements and restrictions for civilian Medical Services ride-alongs.

Civilian Ride-Alongs are great ways to communicate with the civilians within our state. In order to start a civilian ride-along, the following must be done.

* The Civilian in question must consent to a search, the person is not allowed to carry a weapon with them on their ride-along, legal or not.
* The civilian must wear a bullet-proof vest (Heavy Armor, and they are required to put it on in front of you).
* An AEMT or higher has to approve the ride-along.
* You can only have 1 civilian per ride-along; you cannot take multiple people with you.
  * Suppose you or an on-duty supervisor feel your ride-along is hindering you from performing your patrol duties effectively. In that case, the ride-along may be terminated anytime for any reason
