# Patient Care & Documentation

> Practical assessment, treatment, refusal, death roleplay, and medical reporting.

## 4.1 **-** Medical roleplay

Give patients time to interact and make treatment believable: introduce yourself, ask what happened, assess the apparent injuries, explain reasonable treatment, and describe transport or discharge. Adapt detail to the scene rather than treating medicine as a scripted checklist.

**Assessment quick reference:** Consider airway, breathing, circulation, consciousness (AVPU: Alert, responds to Voice, responds to Pain, Unresponsive), basic vital signs, and the patient's account. Perform interventions consistent with your certification, available in-game medical mechanics, and established treatment guidance.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Treatment duration is flexible. Do not enforce a universal 30-second minimum or two-minute maximum; prioritize good RP and other players' time.

## 4.2 **-** Treatment and transport

* Prioritize urgent medical needs and do not perform advanced treatments you are not qualified to represent.
* Provide reasonable scene stabilization, then transport or transfer care when appropriate.
* Use the department's medication reference as a training aid, not permission to improvise prohibited drugs or procedures.
* Coordinate with the receiving facility or medic when a handoff is necessary.

## 4.3 **-** Patient refusal

Patients who can understand and communicate a decision may refuse treatment or transport. Explain the relevant risks without forcing unwanted RP, document the refusal for meaningful or higher-risk incidents, and use the MDT consent/refusal form when available. If capacity is doubtful, seek senior medical guidance and follow server rules and any controlling medical protocols.

## 4.4 **-** Death and permanent-death scenes

Respect the player's story and the server's character-death rules. Do not declare another player's character permanently dead unilaterally. Where a death or coroner roleplay is appropriate, assess the circumstances, coordinate with the involved player and applicable authorities, and document the relevant outcome.

## 4.5 **-** Reporting

Complete an MDT report for **serious or consequential care**, especially:

* Significant trauma, gunshot or stabbing injuries, surgery, ICU admission, or death.
* Police custody, officer-involved critical incidents, and cases likely to require evidence or follow-up.
* Major complications, patient refusals with significant risk, or unusual incidents needing review.

A useful report records **patient**, **date/location**, **responding medic**, **presenting issue**, **assessment and care**, **medications when relevant**, and **disposition/handoff**. Routine minor treatment does not require lengthy paperwork unless an incident calls for it.

Patient information should be shared only for legitimate medical, operational, or authorized legal purposes.
