# 6.2 - Uniforms & Appearance

> Duty uniform standards, prohibited alterations, and specialty uniform exceptions.

## 6.2.1 - Standard Duty Uniform

All officers shall wear their approved department-issued uniform while on duty, unless otherwise authorized by applicable department or subdivision policy.

## 6.2.2 - Prohibited Modifications

Personnel shall not alter or customize numbered or issued uniform components, including vests, pants, shirts, badges, hats, and other issued accessories.

## 6.2.3 - Permitted Personalization

Non-issued, non-numbered items, such as undershirts, watches, and sunglasses, may be worn if they maintain a professional appearance and do not interfere with safety or operational effectiveness.

## 6.2.4 - Specialty Assignments

Subdivision-specific uniforms or equipment may only be worn by authorized members performing applicable subdivision duties, including SWAT, CID, and the Motorbike Unit (MBU).

Noncompliance shall be handled through the chain of command and applicable Department Accountability Program procedures.
