# 7.4 - Decision Review & Appeals

> Requesting review of accountability classifications and disciplinary decisions.

## 7.4.1 - Request for Review

Personnel who believe a DAPS classification or disciplinary decision is inaccurate may seek review through the appropriate departmental command or designated review authority.

A request should identify the challenged decision, related incident or report, disputed facts or policy interpretation, and any additional relevant evidence.

## 7.4.2 - Impartial Review

When practicable, a review should be handled by an authorized individual who did not make the original decision. Reviewers should evaluate the record and explain whether the decision is affirmed, modified, remanded for additional assessment, or overturned.

## 7.4.3 - Records

The original determination and any subsequent disposition should remain traceable in the authorized disciplinary record. Corrections should be documented without misleadingly erasing prior history.
