The following items are seized only when they are reasonably connected to a crime, used during a crime, or identified as proceeds/instruments of a crime:
  • Jewelry (confirmed stolen or obtained via robbery—e.g., Vangelico)
  • Drugs under legal limit / prescribed drugs (only when unlawful possession, trafficking intent, or crime linkage is established)
  • Boosting equipment (laptops/USBs when caught boosting)
  • USBs / hacking tools (when used or possessed in connection with cybercrime or burglary)
  • Blue lockpicks (house burglary tools)
  • Melee weapons (only when used in violent crime, aggravated threats, attempted murder, or similar)
Documentation Requirement: Conditional seizure requires an incident report narrative that links the item to the crime.
