Policy
- Officers may apply no more than one charge per unique tier of offense.
- A “unique tier” is the class/level of crime (e.g., Felony I–IV, Misdemeanor, Infraction).
- A suspect may receive one charge from each felony tier if supported (max four felony charges).
Requirements
- Each charge must be supported by evidence and distinct in tier/classification.
- Charges must be read aloud to the suspect at the time of sentencing.
Prohibited
- Multiple charges of the same tier/class for the same criminal act.
