Field Training Division

Strong foundations build exceptional officers. The San Andreas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Field Training Division (FTD) develops recruits into competent, professional officers for the Los Santos Police Department (LSPD) and San Andreas State Police (SAST). The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) remains inactive until formally reopened. FTD oversees structured academy instruction, supervised patrol training, evaluations, solo observation, and final recommendations for independent duty. The program develops judgment, communication, lawful enforcement, officer and public safety, reporting, and roleplay quality—not merely the ability to pass a quiz.

Training Path

1

Recruitment & Interview

Assess suitability and record the hiring decision.
2

Appointment & Onboarding

Assign cadet status, access, equipment, and training records.
3

Academy

Complete classroom instruction and practical exercises.
4

FTO Phases 1–3

Progress from guided observation to trainee-led patrol.
5

Solo Observation

Complete three qualifying shifts with an on-duty trainer monitoring performance.
6

Final Review & Release

Review evaluations and issue explicit independent-duty authorization.
Passing an academy assessment, finishing Phase 3, or completing a solo observation shift does not by itself authorize independent patrol. The appropriate training authority must record final clearance.

The DPS SOP governs operational and disciplinary policy. This division documentation governs training delivery and progression and must not supersede the SOP. Any proposed deviation requires command authorization.
