All department members are expected to answer all radio calls and announce something with discipline and knowledge on whatever subject they are discussing. They should think about what they are going to transmit before doing so. Choose your terms beforehand to prevent wasting radio air time. All radio communications should be swift and concise. Make sure other units can understand you. Scene command or High command always holds the highest priority over the radio. Always wait for someone to finish their radio transmissions unless you have emergency traffic that needs to be transmitted instantly; if you need to transmit emergency traffic, break up the current transmission with “Break, Break, Break” or “10-3”. This should follow with your emergent traffic.
