1.1 - Treat people well
- Provide care without favoritism, discrimination, unnecessary arguments, or punishment.
- Remain reasonably respectful to patients, coworkers, police, and firefighters, even during tense calls.
- Do not abuse medical access, equipment, confidential patient information, or your position for personal advantage.
- Do not deliberately falsify medical reports or claim qualifications your character does not have.
- Avoid disruptive OOC behavior or exploiting medical mechanics; server rules still apply.
1.2 - Uniforms and appearance
When on duty, wear a recognizable, approved SAMS/EMS uniform. SAMS-issued clothing is there to make responders identifiable and the scene believable.- Approved uniform variations and normal personal accessories are fine if professional and suitable for medical work.
- Novelty costumes, animal ears, sexually suggestive accessories, and other obviously inappropriate clothing are not acceptable while representing EMS.
- Specialty uniforms or plainclothes assignments may be authorized by EMS Command.
- Use an EMS-approved vehicle appropriate to your assignment; do not impersonate another agency.
You do not need permission for every minor clothing choice. Use common sense; supervisors intervene when an outfit clearly breaks the professional EMS appearance.
1.3 - Duty and accountability
- Come on duty ready to respond, with reasonable supplies and a working radio.
- Do not provide care outside your training or use specialty equipment without required authorization.
- Secure issued restricted equipment when leaving duty.
- Serious misconduct, unsafe care, repeated disruptive behavior, or persistent refusal to follow reasonable direction may be addressed by SAMS Command through coaching, retraining, temporary restrictions, or removal when warranted.
