- Often sufficient to deter or defuse situations
Force Level 2 - Tactical (Verbal Commands)
Force that is being used but is non-physical.- Clear, lawful verbal direction
- Increased command presence if needed
- No physical contact
Force Level 3 - Threshold (Soft Techniques)
Officers use bodily force to gain control of a situation using soft and hard techniques.- Physical control to restrain or detain
- Soft techniques: grabs, holds, joint locks
- Hard techniques: strikes used to stop resistance
- Application of restraints (soft or hard cuffs)
