The DPS Accountability Program (DAP) assigns violations from Level 1–4, escalating in severity.

1 DAP – Minor Infractions

  • Unsecured patrol vehicle
  • Unjustified speeding
  • Radio interference or unprofessional chatter
  • Repeated verbal warnings escalate

2 DAPs – Moderate Infractions

  • Excessive gear without approval
  • Improper ramming
  • Misuse of spikes, drones, or tactical tools

3 DAPs – Major Infractions

  • Excessive force
  • Failure to call shots fired
  • Ignoring lawful orders
  • Dangerous spike deployment

4 DAPs – Critical Infractions

  • Weapon loss or mishandling
  • Unauthorized Class 2 escalation
  • Equipment theft or concealment

Termination-Level Actions

  • Abandoning duty
  • Felony conduct
  • Corruption or evasion of arrest
Unclear incidents are reviewed by Supervisors and Command.
