Before responding to any person down/medical emergency call:
  • Officers must determine if SAMS is on duty (radio, dispatch, tablet, etc.)
  • If SAMS is on duty, officers shall not transport patients unless explicitly directed by SAMS.
One officer on scene should be designated as the SAMS Liaison, responsible for:
  • Direct communication with EMS
  • Relaying scene conditions and patient status
  • Receiving and confirming EMS instructions
